What’s SAND HILLS Anyway?

Since 1973, SAND HILLS LITERARY MAGAZINE has been committed to publishing the highest quality creative writing and visual art in print every year — including work by award-winning authors Louise Shivers and Judith Ortiz Cofer. More recently, the magazine has featured exclusive interviews by bestselling authors Peter Heller, Dr. Michele Harper, and Alexander Chee as well as work from both established and debut artists and writers. Contributors have been featured in Glimmer Train, Cincinnati Review, Tampa Review, Witness, The Atlantic, and Subtropics.

SAND HILLS brings together new and established voices from diverse backgrounds. We are looking for works that celebrate different perspectives. We want writers to submit their truths, their fictions — to share their humanity.  We publish the poetry, prose (essays and fiction), and visual art.
